I'm still in my 1st trimester and my first out break with shingles was in early February I had it for 3 weeks then it finally went away. The doctor didn't give me and medicine or creams he said I'm pregnant take tylenol that's all you can do. So I did just that. Well it was gone for about 2 weeks, then last night I get little bump about an inch from where the shingles use to be. I didn't think nothing of it. This morning I realize its shingles once again. What I want to know is why I would have a double out break what causes that? & when I went to the Dr. all he did was look at it pop one & say "Well, you sure do have shingles running through your body, anyone can tell you that." But the funny thing is, is that it was only like an inch wide of bumps and only consisted of 10 bumps, my Obgyn found that odd. by the way it's on the back of my leg.

This just started this morning, after i got out of the shower i noticed on my left arm and right arm was covered in a rash. I thought maybe it could be from getting out of the warm shower, so i just told myself i would keep an eye on it. About an 1 1/2 later, it was still there and it started to get itchy and burn. I dont know what to do? I called my dr and he said to put some itch cream on it, but i really want to know what it is and what it is from. could it be an allergic reaction to something, or shingles, i dont know, just very worried about it. Has any one had these symptoms before?

When I was 4 years old, my mother left me and my sister with my abusive alcoholic father so that she could go move on with her life and join the navy. I'm not too sure about before that time, but I definitely know that my father started abusing me after that. Mentally, physically, and sexually he abused me (and only me, my sister was always treated better) telling me things like I looked like my mom and I was worthless and ugly and fat and stupid. I had to deal with that for 9 years, every summer going to visit with my mom and her new husband begging them to let me stay, but they never let me. It wasn't until I was almost 13, with my maternal grandmother dying of cancer telling my mom to get me away from my dad, that anyone even tried to do anything. I went to live with her and my stepfather 2 months after my grandmother's death. But when I went to live with them in California, she started to pretty much treat me like dirt. She blamed me for everything, ranging from the house not being clean down to her not cooking like she used to. Headaches, colds, a broken nail. You name it, I apparently caused it somehow. I was treated like that up until the year before last. That's when I met my husband. He and I fell in love so totally and completely. He's what I'd always wanted. Someone to love me, not treat me bad. But about 2 or 3 months after we met, I got very sick. Like, almost died sick. Shingles, mono and meningitis, so bad that I couldn't stand up on my own, couldn't keep food down, my eyes were crossed and my face paralyzed because my nerves were damaged from the pressure in my spine and head. Not a single one of them got me hospitalized until about a month after it all started. My husband, who was my boyfriend at the time, didn't know what to do, and my parents were just too busy pretending like I should be able to take care of myself like that. I was terrified the whole time, because I thought I was dying like right after having met my soul-mate. I got through it though, after being in the hospital for a week. But then I got pregnant right after. My face hadn't even started healing yet when I found out. So even with all the left over stuff I had going on, I had to carry out a pregnancy. Now, 9 months after my son was born, I'm suffering the most I ever have. My body hurts, the left over nerve damage sending pain up and down my left side. I keep having horrible flashbacks, either of one of my parents doing something horrible to me, or of me being sick, thinking I was going to die. I'm scared all the time, tense all the time. I don't know what to do, and I feel like I'm making the two people I love suffer with me. I've been trying to fix these things, but for about 15 years I'd shut off all feelings and stopped thinking about being an actual human being. Now, I've finally come out of that, and I'm suffering all the time. I have no idea what all to do, and I could really use some help. I want to be able to enjoy my life finally. I want to go out and do things with my family. Please, if anyone has any way of helping me, respond to this. I know it's unusual to do this on on a website, but I'm pretty much at the end of my rope. And yes, I'm seeing a therapist, but I live in a po-dunk little town in Tennessee, so I don't have reliable people to help.

Ok. I am 9 weeks pregnant. My husband and I are trying to make extra room in the house so we have been doing a lot of work in the garage. Well, today I was out there trying to organize and clean up. I was pushing a long heavy objects (for example: shingles), and lifting a lot of objects (not necessarily heavy). I have read contradicting facts as far as what not to lift and when not to lift (1st, 2nd, 3rd trimesters). Now I am worried, as I may have hurt the baby. I never felt like I was really straining to move these objects, but still. Do you think anything could have happened? Some sources say that it is me that will get injured, not the baby, and I'm ok with that, as long as I didn't hurt the baby. I am not going to work out there anymore. It just caused to much anxiety for me after the fact. Also, should I call my doctor about this? How often did you pregnant ladies/ladies with children call your OB/GYN with questions? Thank you!

I am 6 months pregnant and on weds, 2 days ago, my mother found out that she has shingles. She lives in another state and was given the antiviral meds 3 x day for 7 days which she started on Weds. Here's the dilema. My baby shower is in 1 week and she will be here on Friday (in 7 days). Will she infect me or my guest at the shower? I've already had chicken pox and had the vaccine when i went into the military. I also have 3 other pregnant women coming that also have had chicken pox. I say my mom is fine as long and she doesn't touch anyone if she has open blisters. Am I wrong? Or is being in the same room with her bad? She has to actually touch someone with an open blister to expose someone right? I don't want her to not come to my shower. So even if my mother covers the blisters, and even if i've already had chicken pox, I still can't go near her? I'm so confused. My doctor said it's ok, her's said to avoid me? I want my mother there 100%.

I am just curious to hear from other women if they actually lost weight during pregnancy, not related to morning sickness or nausea and what the reason was behind it if they know. I am currently 7 months pregnant. Overall since I started to see my OB/GYN I have lost 6 pounds in total for the whole pregnancy. This last visit was just 2 weeks since the last one and I lost 4lbs. I have had a lot of stress and have been sick with shingles for the past 2 weeks so I am thinking that has something to do with it but just wanted to check with other women to hear their stories and see if they lost and why. My family also just moved to a new city about 4 months ago and I am much more active, am overweight so I don't really see an issue with it, my dr doesn't see an issue so just want to hear stories. Can somebody please help me out here? Give me your opinion...do you think im pregnant from these symptoms? And if I am...why are all my tests coming up negetive? My period was due wedsday (2 days ago) Ive NEVER been late in my life, and i am in no way stressed out. I had spotting last sunday, pink and at one point a brownish color...ive never spotted and i am not on birth control. Ive been really tired, eating alot, very moody. My discharge was a milky color. I got shingles, (i dont no if that matters, but i read somewhere that another women did to, and i have not been around anyone that could have exposed it to me that i know of) ive been really emotional, having wierd cramps in my uterus. the baby would have been concieved last monday (11 days ago) and i heard that you wont get your positive till 2 weeks after conception. Im trying to get pregnant and this is driving me crazy as to why i wont get my positive. lemme no what you think, thanks thats what i thought too, 14 days after conception. ok i was in work earlier and my dad phones me up and he tells me that someone who i spent a good 2 hours of my time with has just found out she has shingles, not only that my dad has started to get them to (its my dads lady friends mum who has them so he spends alot of time at the shop doing odd jobs) anyway so yesterday i had contact with 2 people with shingle. thing is im 30 weeks pregnant and ive never had chickenpox i dont even no if im immune, i dont even no if i need to go to docs or anything (not that i can now anyway and i couldnt before as ive only just finished work) please can someone give me some good advice on what i need to do, what to look out for, as like i say ive not even had chicken pox. im also worried my kids will end up with the chicken pox as my son was with me yesterday. this really isnt a good time to be panicing. i always remember hearing that chicken pox/shingles in pregnancy isnt good, so please advice if you can

what can i do to get a second scan, i'm 32 weeks pregnant and was only given a 12 week scan because of where i live, i dont want to lie about anything bad incase it tempts fate, any suggestions or should i just wait? My best Friend has just been diagnosed with HSV-2. She had a legion on her arm that her Doctor initially thought was shingles. But after a swab test of the fluid, she has been told it is HSV-2. She is 9 weeks pregnant and has caught HSV-2 in the last few weeks, as she was negative in her 6-7 week pregnancy blood test. Her doctor said it’s rare to get the legion on her upper arm and have no symptoms on her genital area. He also said it is contagious through the fluid in side the legions and can be contracted in hot, sweaty, moist situations so he believes she got it playing squash, from one of the women there who touched themselves and then touched her arm. She is having a really hard time as the pain in her arm is server (and she cant take anything as she is pregnant) as well as having all the other major symptoms like headaches back ach leg aches etc. Her husband has had to take time off work to look after their children as she is in so much pain and is also terrified she will pass it on to them and wont even change her baby. Neither of them have been unfaithful, he is negative and she has just contracted it within weeks and has not had sex with anyone but her husband and she has no symptoms on her genital area. I’m a little confused as everything I have read indicates that this is a sexually transmitted disease??? She is scared of everything, she scrubs her shower after she uses it, she has her own towels and like I said she wont touch her child, I’d really like some facts as what I have read doesn’t match what she is telling me that her doctor has told her. Thanks so much, I just want know what I can about it to support her and to try to ease some of her pain, as she is so scared for her family, children and also for her unborn baby.

yes, same ole song and dance here, but I am going nuts.... I live in Galveston tx and I am not getting ANYWHERE with our govt. 1st let me say I dont want handouts, I HAD A GREAT JOB for yeas before IKE came along... I have insurance on my home but it wont cover windstorm, ie THE hole in my roof, and BLUROOF, haha they denied me too said they only cover shingle damage, not holes like mine...nor fences and busted out windows.... FEMA told me to take a hike too, said flood insurance will cover the 41/2 ft water damage INSIDE house but IM getting nowhere fast with the flood company referred to SBA by FEMA, got denied there too.... Denied food stamps becuase I got 2 paychecks the start of Sept. before Ike Denied unemployment same as above.... AND IM 5 MOS PREGNANT!!!!! guess who else denied me...yep Star program medicaid for preg women, 1st was denied because the case worker put"filed in error" on my app...whatever that means, then lost in system for 6 weeks and denied because case became inactive.... I called legal aid this morning and they will forward case to legal team and if they can help me they will mail a letter, like I can even get mail, anyhow, I feel as though Im banging my head on the wall, bills are all due soon, Im OFFICIALLY unemployed, no food, gas, money...waaa waaaaa waaaa At least Im alive and baby remains actively kicking....does anyone have suggestions or numbers? I have stood numerous days in line at comm. ctr but its always the same after 4-5 standing in line, no one knows what to do or where to do it at...

I was diagnozed with shingles on last week. I am 33 y.o., never missed my period in my life. This month my mensus never really came, I saw few blood sports for 2 days, but it never started. I am not pregnant 100%. Is shingles can effect my period? Should I worry?

Hi i work at a school and 2 wks ago i got sent home as a child had slap cheek, i am 18 and a bit wks pregnant and it can cause misscarrage before 20wks, still havent got my blood test results to say if im immune to the virus or not! i went bak to work this monday as i felt bad for being off so long, now another child has got shingles so i got sent home again!!! is it safe after so many weeks pregnant to be around these viruses as i dont want to be sent home every week coz the kids keep comming down with things. I want to put my pregnancy 1st and not let any harm come to my baby, but i feel stupid keep getting sent homw. please help :-)

I have recently had my period twice in the past two months. I am a little worried because I have not gotten it this month. My last period ended the 1st of this month. I did some reading online and noticed that your period can change if you are stressed out. I just got over the shingles, which you get from being stressed, so could this be why my period hasn't come this month? I also read that by starting a new workout routine and dieting can cause irregular periods. I have started working out 5 to 6 times a week and I have also started to eat healthy, not dieting. I have been eating 3 healthy meals a day with 2 snacks in between. Could this be the cause of my irregular period? Could I possible be pregnant? I am going to call tomorrow and schedule an appointment with my clinician ASAP. Oh and I'm 21 and have never had an irregular period, so that's why I'm worried.

They work in an air conditioned room with no outside ventilation. Im just wondering how long the incubation period is - well how long these people should be staying off work. Luckily we have both had chicken pox but I am 31 weeks pregnant-and dont fancy picking it up!!! I thought the work should have an infectious illness protocol but it appears not - the woman in charge there today thought it was only 2 weks!!!!Any info/previous experience would be great - cheers! There have been at least 5 people off in the last 2-3 week. We have both been ill with flu like symptoms, headaches etc but no rash . . . . . . . . .

This must be God testing me...... This is my second infection of shingles. The first I had a couple of few years back- in which the neuralgia was extremely painful and lasted for about 2 years. Now I a, 24 weeks pregnant, I also have a mild placental abruption- and now THIS, another infection of shingles. I am losing my mind. I have been reading that there is a slight risk of fetal varicella syndrome to the baby. Any med experts that can help me? Any experience or info at all is greatly appreciated. btw......I am going to the Dr- asap. Thanks

I will be a full 23 weeks tomorrow. I am having a boy and he has been very active. I woke up last weekend with what was thought to be a spider bite. Turns out its not. The doctors think it might be shingles or something simliar. I am waiting on the culture to come back. I have had a bad headache for the last several days and taking a lot of tylenol. Within the last two days my stomache and sides have started to hurt. Its not all the time. Its comes and goes. When I went to the restroom a couple of times I was spotting. Is this normal? I have a 6 1/2 yr old and I really don't remember feeling like this. Any suggestions?

I have a loving Grandson who is 24, and give till it hurts me. My Son got a girl pregnant at 16 and my grandson was the result. We brought him home from hospital because mother did not want him. We raise him husband and I, best decision we ever made in our marriage. I have M.S. and is in remission for how long I don't know, but when I had shingles It caused me to have paralysis and I could barely move for two weeks. My Grandson was there for me he washed me, fed me, got me into wheel chair and took me outside to get some sun, And Changed my dirty dippers without a complaint, said " he could never let his grandma be left in soiled undergarments"! I love that boy, as any of my kids who never even help me. I now live with grandson after husband died 3 years ago, he went to Stanford and got 2 Ph.d.s applied mathematic, electronic architecture physics, and make a very good living freelancing trouble shooter, as well as, fly in navy reserves. I'm really proud of him, to say the least. But he has a new love in his life who has asked him to "marry her". (yes she asked) and he said grandmother and I are a packaged deal! he's got his own place he calls safe harbor, It was to be a church/ community center but people screwed around and well Grandson got it for pocket change. He made 5 apartments out if it and the top floor, 3 story's, is his, I live just below him and an elevator of my o have direct access to his apartment through a set a stairs to his place. He makes me dinner, we watch tv together he sees to it I get medication on time and get to bed, I'm 54, but with M.S. i sometime feel 80, The other apartments my kids live in and refuse to pay rent because my grandson wont let me pay rent! I'm angry at everyone of them, and god help me at my grandson who refuses to shove these parasites out the door. He say he's got the money so why not, help out. His bride to be wont accept that, told them, and him it's time for them to pay a monthly rent or be shown the door! I really love this young lady, she a child psychiatrist for traumatized children, and is perfect for grandson I believe. She really loves him saying he's think only of other people well being, even if a bunch of parasites like my kids, who are all over 28. She told me he thought I was the best and he would go to end of planet to help me, and she understand that but she did say that I would have to respect there time together, and I assured her it will be that way. I hate what his father is doing living off his son, the no good bum (he's my son I can say that) and 2 daughters who feel its family place that they all can live at . All apartments are over 3400ft. and three bedrooms his is over 4600ft. and also three bedrooms. I sometime feel I should move out and go to a assisted living facility but grandson wont hear of it! He tells me I'm staying put, but my kids are driving him insane but he's says nothing to them or me about it and he deserves his own happiness. should I move OUT?
