Open Question: How do I tell my friend without hurting her?
(Wed, 17 Mar 2010 23:48:18 GMT)
My friend and I are both pregnant and at about the same week I'm 35 and she's 34...She has been coming over to our house all the time because she lives across the street. We have been friends for years and went to school together, we still live in the same town. She is over all the time and my husband and I are getting really annoyed with her being there..She says she will be over all the time with her new baby. I am really annoyed, how do I tell her to leave us alone and not be over all the time??? Help!!

Open Question: moms who have kids, describe your first borns labor?
(Wed, 17 Mar 2010 23:36:54 GMT)
I am 34 weeks pregnant and a first timer. for those of you who aren`t first time moms, please describe your first labor. duration, if you gave birth early or late, etc. I have heard many wives tales of first time births such as first timers are always in labor for along time and that they always go past their due date

Open Question: 34+5, Abdominal cramping diarrhea and sharp pain in cervix?
(Wed, 17 Mar 2010 20:00:42 GMT)
Hi
I'm nearly 35 weeks pregnant with my second child, for the last week i have been having irregular but painful braxton hicks, i know my baby is engaged she was 4/5ths a week ago but i feel like she has dropped more in the past few days.
i have been having shooting pains in my legs and cervix for a while to and this evening i have had diarrhea which is highly unusual for me.
does anyone know what this could be i'm worried about preterm labour, would my baby be ok if born now? i never felt like this with my first and he was born at 39 weeks.
thanks in advance

Open Question: What should I know about my baby at 34 weeks pregnant?
(Wed, 17 Mar 2010 19:50:54 GMT)
I'm 33 weeks pregnant and I have a doctors appointment next Thursday where I'll then be 34 weeks and 2 days pregnant... So far I basically know nothing about our baby except he is growing well and according to schedule or whatever. My doctor doesn't tell me anything unless I ask, like she doesn't say oh your baby is in this position or your baby weighs around this much... I asked her once if the baby was head down yet and she said no not yet, in a few weeks, and another time I asked what the fetal heart rate was (before I knew the gender) and she said she couldn't tell yet, and then never told me when she was able to... I mean I know she is busy and deals with lots of pregnant people but I don't feel I should have to ask EVERYTHING shouldn't she tell me some things? Espically when this is my first pregnancy and all I am not even sure what to ask.. What sort of things should I KNOW about the baby at 34 weeks? And when should we go over my birth plan? I don't really have one, all I know is that I want an epidural but I'm not sure when she asks me about what I want, or even if she will. It's frustrating when I go to appointments and she just checks my blood pressure and feels the baby/listens to the heartbeat and away I go... I am going to ask her some things next week so if you could give me a list of what I should know/ask that would be awesome!! Thanks =)
I know the "common" things of a baby at 34 weeks I go on babycenter.ca every new week and read up on the babys development but I mean I want to know specifics for our baby!

Open Question: Could an increase in fetal movement, breast leakage, and vaginal discharge mean labor is coming soon?
(Wed, 17 Mar 2010 14:04:08 GMT)
I'm 34 weeks (but measuring 38, and the baby is 10 days "bigger" than they think she should be on ultrasound). In the past two weeks I've noticed my daughter has gone from moving very little to moving almost all the time. Yesterday my breasts started leaking a lot, I've been having colostrum come out since I was 4 months pregnant, but yesterday it was making wet spots on my shirt the size of soft balls. I've also had a lot more vaginal discharge. Since the baby is measuring bigger and all these other things are happening (plus I've had a lot more Braxton Hicks in the past week) I was wondering if that could mean labor would be coming sooner.
Originally I was due April 18th according to my last period, but the baby was measuring a week smaller than that at my first ultrasound so they moved my due date back to the 24th of April. If I were to go off of my last period then I would be 35 weeks pregnant instead of 34. Any ideas?
I'm not saying I want her to come now, I want her to wait at least three more weeks just so she's full term.

Open Question: My breasts are getting bigger?
(Wed, 17 Mar 2010 09:53:34 GMT)
Haha..I know this is a really weird question, but...
Since I've started running, I've noticed my breasts have gone from a 32 B to a 34 C, not a huge difference, but still. Is it because of the running? I haven't grown (I'm 17 in case you were wondering). Is it normal to be the same bra size for three years then suddenly go up a band size and a cup size in 6 weeks? Please answer! Normal or not??
FYI: Haven't gained weight, lost 5 pounds; def not pregnant, and no, I'm not on my menstrual cycle.

Open Question: breastfeeding advice please (experienced successful breastfeeders especially needed)?
(Tue, 16 Mar 2010 21:29:52 GMT)
I'm 34 weeks pregnant. I started leaking out of my breasts and this got me wondering... is it possible to try to build up a milk supply before the baby is born?
I ask this because I had such a difficulty with my supply with my first born he very nearly got "failure to thrive"... so I had to supplement with formula to get him healthy. I believe the failure has everything to do with the fact at first he wouldn't latch on.. then when he learned how he would keep detaching and I'd have to reattach him so much it wasn't stimulating the supply enough. I've tried both manual and electric pumps.. they didn't help much in the supply. I kept it up frequently. I talked to many "experts" but they weren't very helpful. The one at the hospital I gave birth at told me he was too fussy to work with! Of course he was fussy! He was starving! And a different one (as I wasn't going to put up with "he's too fussy") said I wasn't doing anything wrong when she watched me and that isn't much help either. It's hard to find really good advice about it.... So I decided to go to a better source. Actual mothers who've done it.
I really want to breastfeed my second baby fully and successfully. Breast is best and my baby deserves the best I can give. Any tips would be wonderful. The more tips the better! If you would be willing I'd love to hear how long and how many children you've breastfed. If you've have multiple children did they take to the experience differently?
Thank you very much in advance.

Open Question: Calm baby in utero has suddenly become very active and hitting stronger? Any ideas?
(Tue, 16 Mar 2010 19:29:11 GMT)
I'm 34 weeks pregnant with my second baby. She's been a very calm, gentle baby ever since I first started feeling her move. It never felt like thumps, more like she was just petting me on the inside or rubbing up against me. With my first pregnancy my daughter was active from the very first time I felt her move. Very strong thumps and kicks and stretches. In the last few days, this baby has become increasingly active, with stronger movements and more painful stretches. Is it just because she's running out of room? Have any of you had a calm baby become super active at the end of the pregnancy? Did you go into labor before your due date? I'm not rushing to have this baby, but just curious. Thanks for your help!

Open Question: Painless contractions run in my family...will I get them?
(Tue, 16 Mar 2010 18:33:51 GMT)
I have 6 days till my due date and lately I'll have these really sharp pains in my pelvic area, I'm pretty sure its just due to my son dropping but I noticed in between my stomach would get hard but because I had a constant dull pain in my back and stomach I couldnt really tell if they were contractions or not. I shrugged it off and took tylenol and went to sleep. I woke up and they were gone so I figured they were just braxton hicks if anything. When I was 34-35 weeks pregnant i lost my mucus plug and was having some sharp almost like stabbing/poking pains in my stomach (all over) since I lost my mucus plug quite early I went to labor and delivery and they said I was having contractions and gave me a shot to stop them. I had no idea I was having contractions, all I felt was sharp quick pains and little bit of back pain, otherwise nothing like I've been told I'll feel with contractions. I talked with my family and they now tell me that painless contractions run in my family. My mother when she was pregnant with me only had like very very mild menstrual cramps for about and hour and then her water broke. Unfortunately she had to have a emergency c-section cause i was breech and my feet were already in the birth canal by the time she arrived at the hospital. My aunt on the other hand had all 3 kids natural and she had painless contractions with all and even delivered her daughter within 14 mins after arriving at the hospital. THENNNNN I find out my grandmother also experieced painless contractions....WILL THIS HAPPEN TO ME? I'm scared that it will and I wont know I'm in labor. Has this happened to anyone else and what does it feel like?

Open Question: When your baby dropped how much did it change your shape and waistline?
(Tue, 16 Mar 2010 06:27:12 GMT)
I'm 34 weeks pregnant but my son hasn't dropped yet. I'm getting married in three weeks and I'm about to buy or have a wedding dress made. I've decided not to wear a tent and try to hide my enormous bump, so my dress will be a little snug. Assuming that my son drops by then how much will my waistline and shape change? Should I wait until the last few days before my wedding to buy or have a dress made?

Resolved Question: 34 weeks pregnant and getting a dental prophylaxis, safe?
(Tue, 16 Mar 2010 02:32:02 GMT)
I'm 34 weeks pregnant and i have braces.
I'm getting my braces off next week but before they can do this i need to get a good cleaning (prophylaxis) My orthodontist knows i'm pregnant so i wouldn't think they would do anything that was unsafe for me or baby. Also i'm a little scared cause i know they have to clean thoroughly under the gumline eek!! :(
Any helpful info would be very appreciated!!!
Thanks!!! :)

Resolved Question: Contractions 2-3 minutes apart consistently for an hr but painless?
(Mon, 15 Mar 2010 22:22:18 GMT)
I am almost 34 weeks pregnant and have been having contractions for a few hrs but started counting about an hr ago and have been having them pretty consistently 2-3 mintues apart about 1 70 seconds each but are painless. They are strong and uncomfortable but really no pain. I've been getting the braxton hicks contractions for a few days now but not this many and so often. Should I just wait to see if they begin to hurt than call the dr?

Resolved Question: How long after your period did you get your BFP?
(Mon, 15 Mar 2010 16:56:33 GMT)
My last period started on Feb. 11 with a little spotting for 2 days, slightly heavier on Feb. 13 and full force on Feb. 14. We had plenty of unprotected sex during the month, especially around the time when ovulation should occur (although ovulation tests from earlypregnancytest.com did not show a dark positive for ovulation).
My cycle history is:
June 2009... ended birth control (nuvaring)
July 13 CD1 (24 days)
Aug 5 CD1 (27 days)
Aug 31 (28 days)
Oct 22 (26 days)
Nov 19 (29 days)
December - extreme high stress month where I spotted/had period for about 2 weeks straight, but truly started period on Dec 22. (34 days (but spotting had started Dec 12)
Jan 18 (28 days)
Feb 11 (25 days)
March (33 days & counting)
Now, it is March 15 (33 days). On Friday (day 30) I had lots of cramping in the abdominal area. There was a bit more cramping Sat, and less today and yesterday. Queeziness, yes, but just a little. Sore breasts? no. Pregnancy tests... all have been negative (I have taken 5). I have also had to pee quite a bit. Headaches? yes, but I have also been attempting to cut down on the caffeine. I think I saw a slight spotting last night (like 1 drop) but have not had any more since.
Do I still have a chance of being pregnant, even with all these negative tests (including this morning)? I go to my general doctor in one more week, and if I haven't had my period will get a blood test.

Resolved Question: Pregnant with a big baby?
(Mon, 15 Mar 2010 16:12:40 GMT)
I had a midwives appointment this morning and she told me that I am measuring 35 weeks even though I am only 34 weeks in, she says that this is no problem and everything else looks perfectly healthy.
I only thought about it after I left properly but because the baby is bigger does this mean that it is likely to come early or does it not make any difference.
Any opinions are appreciated. Thank you :-)

Open Question: Having trouble bonding with my daughter, has anyone else been through this? Long question?
(Mon, 15 Mar 2010 09:59:11 GMT)
With my son (first born) i loved him the minute he was born, natural birth, 8 hours from start to finish, everything about it was perfect. He was healthy and no problems. He is now almost 20 months old and he in my eyes is the most perfect boy ever, i look at him and i cant help but smile. even when he really gets to me he will do something totally cute the next minute and il totally forget about what hes done to pi** me off.
I got pregnant with my daughter (now 4 months) when my son was only 6 months old, she was not planned and we were only using condoms. As soon as i knew i was pregnant i had a gut feeling something wasnt right, throughout the whole pregnancy i felt great. All the scans showed that she was fine, no downs syndrome, nothing wrong. then i went for my midwife appointment at 36 weeks and my belly was only measuring 34 weeks so i was sent for a scan. She in fact was on the small side, she was only just measuring the acceptable limit (any smaller and i would have to have been hospitalized and monitored for the rest of my pregnancy) she was measuring 33 weeks and 4lb 5oz.
So i got referrered to hospital and had to go for scans and to have her heartbeat monitored every 2nd day (3 times a week). Found out my placenta was failing and i had low amniotic fluid which was causing her poor growth. then at 38 weeks 6 days while i was hooked up to all the machines a doctor came in and said to me "ok, we can do your induction this morning". I knew i was going to be induced but i didnt know they just spring it on you like that. I went home and got my bags and went back to hospital and they started the induction. I hated it. I was in labour for 36 hours before i asked for an epidural, it was an epidural and get pumped full of drugs to help me contract or get a c section. My hormones (you know the feel good ones when you have a natural spontaneous birth) never turned up, i never felt that excitment that you feel when alol of a sudden you realise your in labour.
Anyway she was born 7lb 6oz. i got to hold her, then the midiwfe gave her a check and turns out they thought she didnt have an anus, well she ended up having one but it comes out her vagina, or they share the same hole, if you get me. She spent a night in the NICU and then we spent an extra 4 nights in hospital. She has had one operation so far and she has a colostomy bag, she is scheduled for her next one in the next 3 months. We named her Lyla roase elizabeth, i didnt particularly like the name, its pretty. But not what i wanted to name her, the whole pregnancy i had been calling her alfie, but no one (mum, dad, partners parents, grandparents) liked the name so partner refused to let me name her alfie rose elizabeth (he told me this while i was in labour, before that i was 100% sure her name would be alife) so he decided that lyla was a good name and we can call her that. I look at her and i see an alfie, weird i know because its aparently a 'boys' name, she suits lyla, but she is so an alfie that its not funny. When she was 3 weeks old i told my fiance i wanted to change her name because i didnt think lyla was the right name for her, he told me not to be stupid and that its a good name.
I breastfeed her and i play with her heaps but i just dont have the bond that i have with my son. I have been tested for post natal depression twice once at 6 weeks when i told my midwife my feelings, then again at 3 months to be re evaluated. Turns out i dont have it, just having problems bonding. I hardly ever have just 1 on 1 time with my daughter which may be part of the problem. She smiles at me, i can make her laugh and its great. But i dont get that warm fuzzy feeling i get with my son. I have even thought about switching to formula because i dont seem to be bonding, but then i thought if i stop breastfeeding i will loose what little bond i have.
Just wondering if anyone else felt like this and if it ever got better? Or any tips on what i can do, i so badly want the special bond that i have with my son, with my daughter

Resolved Question: Does this sound like pregnancy to you?
(Sun, 14 Mar 2010 20:53:44 GMT)
Does this sound like pregnancy or am I just imagining things? I'm sorry I know this is one of those oh-so-common am I pregnant questions, but I could really use some help!
I use the natural family planning method, which has worked for me for years. My period have been consistent for about 6 months since getting off of the pill in July 2009. I got off of the pill because every time I take birth control, I get always get most of the bad side effects.
So since October my period have been going on about a 33-34 day cycle. I've been able to chart when I ovulate, which is about 12 days after my period. I can feel it as well, so I know. Its been like this:
Periods:
October 31
December 3
January 6
February 9
I always figure it will come within that 3 days gap. They usually are a very heavy flow and last about 5 to 7 days. However, in February, it didn't come until about halfway through the day on the 9th and flowed for about a day or two and then became so light for a couple days that it only showed when I wiped. The day after this "period" stopped, I went to the doctor for a follow up appointment after being diagnosed with PCOS and took a urine pregnancy test, which was negative.
But this month, it was supposed to come on the 12th and it hasn't! And I've only felt bloating. I usually get PMS symptoms pretty bad about a week before my period, but this month I haven't experience a thing. But I been experiencing breast pain for about 3.5 to 4 weeks now.
I've been experiencing more and more symptoms as the days go by:
-Headaches
-Fatigue (its getting to the point where my partner can't even wake me up and if he succeeds, I become unusually angry while I'm still half asleep)
-Nausea (slightly and in the morning and evenings. Not everyday. No vomiting)
-TERRIBLE lower back aches (sometimes they don't stop until it is throbbing)
-Perky Nipples
-Sensitive breasts (a lot of times they will hurt with no movement being made at all)
-lightheaded and have only experience two dizzy spells
-Certain smells do make me queasy and I haven't been able to eat some foods that I normally do.
-I have that sticky, clear, discharge that has no odor (I know for a fact I'm not ovulating because I charted it, but I did hear this could be an early pregnancy thing)
-Oh and lets not forget, no period.
So let me know what you guys think. Am I crazy or just pregnant?
The reason I haven't tested yet is because it could be my body just going nuts. So I thought I'd give it a week before jumping to conclusions...
Thanks for the input about PCOS and ovulating. For me, I've never had problems with my period. I mean it may have been a little off sometimes, but it didn't really mess up until I got on the depo a few years ago and then went through a series of different birth control pills. But I menstruate fine and my doctor says I ovulate very consistently, especially for someone with PCOS. This is the only reason i'm questioning my symptoms because my period and ovulation schedule have been completely regular.

Open Question: Have any of you moms had a calm baby in utero suddenly become very active at the end of the pregnancy?
(Sun, 14 Mar 2010 18:10:52 GMT)

Resolved Question: 34 weeks pregnant, and not feeling ready at all for them?
(Sat, 13 Mar 2010 23:29:48 GMT)
I am 34 weeks pregnant with twins, and I am feeling nervous.
I don't feel like I am ready for them yet, and I am worried that they will come soon. We don't even have their names picked out yet! We do have their nursery all done, and their clothes, car seats etc. but I just don't feel ready.
Has anyone else experienced this? Do you have any ideas on how I can feel more ready? How I can prepare myself for them?

Voting Question: Vaginal discomfort at 34 weeks pregnant?
(Sat, 13 Mar 2010 19:45:40 GMT)
I am 34 weeks pregnant and grossly enough my vaginal area is really sore. It feels very swollen and sometimes I get shooting pains when I change positions. I have been having back and hip pains for weeks now but nothing out of the ordinary. When I went to the doctor last week she said it is probably just round ligament pain, but I didn't have the shooting pain then. No bleeding or abnormal discharge. Is this normal? It's the weekend so I had to leave message for Dr on call.

Voting Question: When should I call the dr? Just braxton hicks or real contractions?
(Sat, 13 Mar 2010 11:08:12 GMT)
I am a 34 weeks and 2 days pregnant. I've been having contractions for 24 hrs. They are pretty painless more annoying than anything. I don't know if they are getting stronger or my uterus is just getting tired but I woke up this morning and was still getting them. I am having some mild cramping in my lower abdomen but it could possibly just be round ligament pain. Also some back aching but that could just go with the pregnancy. I sometimes have 5 or more contractions in an hr. Should I call the dr or just assume braxton hicks since it has been 24 hrs with no progression it seems. Could this just be my body preparing and I could go into labor within the next few days or weeks? I was thinking if they don't hurt no need to call the dr but if they start to hurt I will call. I don't know what do you think?

Resolved Question: 4 weeks?? Does that mean i'm out?
(Sat, 13 Mar 2010 04:41:28 GMT)
Ok so i'm reading some questions on here and there are alot of women who are saying they are just 4 weeks pregnant and they already found out. I have a little longer cycle but just figured out that I would be 5 weeks on sunday if I conceived. LMP was february 1 and my cycle is 34 days so I think I figured it right. I should've started on the 7th of march about. Anyways, I took a test today that came out so extremely faint that I think my eyes were just playing tricks on me, like seeing something there even though there wasn't. So i'm wondering if this means that i'm out for this month? Would I definitely have tested positive by now if I will be 5 weeks on sunday? When did you test positive? I do have a couple symptoms but I just don't know what to think anymore. Tell me you're experiences ladies please!

Resolved Question: 34 weeks pregnant and just feeling...strange? Please read for more info...?
(Sat, 13 Mar 2010 04:37:26 GMT)
I'm 34 weeks with my second child. For the past couple days I haven't felt quite right. It's hard to explain. I don't feel sick or anything, a little more tired than usual, but that comes with being pregnant. My memory is all over the place, as in I'm having trouble remembering why I got up to go to the kitchen, or what I was supposed to get at the grocery store, that I need to switch the laundry from the washer to the dryer, etc. I can't seem to stay focused at all. Tonight it seems to have gotten worse. We went to dinner and I noticed that my fingers are swollen (again, comes with the territory) and keep turning really red, they aren't hugely swollen just a little tight. I have more vaginal discharge than I have been having, it looks normal enough, just a lot of it. Sorry if that's TMI. I'm not hungry at all but make myself eat anyway. I've been pretty dizzy and weak in the legs tonight.
I just don't feel right. Does this sound familiar to anyone else? I feel like something is off. Not necessarily anything wrong, but just out of whack. Any ideas as to what's going on would be greatly appreciated.

Voting Question: Am I having prodromal labor?
(Sat, 13 Mar 2010 02:17:19 GMT)
I am 34 weeks and 3 days pregnant. Wednesday I went to the dr and found out I am thinning out. This is my 3rd pregnancy, but first vag. delivery, the other two were c-sections so I have never thinned or dilated. Anyway, Thursday I woke up at 4am to myself moaning in pain. I had back to back and very painful contractions and cramping for 3.5 hours. Laying down, sitting up, warm bath, going to the bathroom,w alking..nothing eased the pains. I was honestly in too much pain to time them, but they were very consistent and close together. But then, after 3.5hrs they slowed down and stopped. I still get cramping and contractions off and on but nothing painful or regular, just uncomfortable. Does this sound like prodromal labor??
My dr is a high risk Dr so he is comfortable performing a Vbac or vaginal birth after c-section. there are factors that have to look good prior to delivery and if all of that looks good then the benefits outweigh the risks. I will find all that out at my u/s the 31st.
