Ok.. so I found out at the beginning of December that I'm having a baby! I'm so excited, but since it is my 1st pregnancy, I have questions about everything and anything. I know I should ask my OB/GYN, but I don't think of these things while I'm at my appointments. Anyhow, here's my question. The doctor told me ideally that he'd like me to gain between 25-35 pounds total. Well, I'm a little over 11 weeks along, and I've already gained 18 pounds!!! Is this going to "even itself out" or am I going to continue to gain and gain? I'm not worried about the stretch marks or anything like that, I just want to assure that the baby is going to be healthy. Thanks!

I'm 35 weeks pregnant and every week i get one of those like what to expect things sent to my e-mail and it said that goin the bathroom would be harder and constipation was veryy common well the opposite seems to be happening to me. I have been having really bad diarrhea i feel like the last 2-3 days i have gone to the bathroom more than i have this whole pregnancy. I'm just curious if this happened to anyone else?? did you get really bad diarrhea late in pregnancy and are there any ways i can make it stop and/or not be as bad. Hi, I am 34w3d pregnant, and sunday, was admitted to the hosp over night because they thought i was going into early labor. So they gave me two of those shots to stop contractions and labor, and im on the pill for of it now. They took the fetal fibronectin test and it came back positive, so the doctors say theres a good chance our baby girl will be born ahead of schedule...possibly in 2 weeks. This hospital doesnt have a NICU area, so we would have to be rbought to the city which is about an hour away. My husband and I dont have a car, or any kind of transportation and have to depend on the transit bus that only runs 4 hours a day to get us where we need to go. Im scared to death that if I have my baby in that hosp, that they will keep her for a month or something, and then we wont be allowed to stay there, so we will have to be an hour away from her every day of the beginning of her life on earth because we have no way of getting to the city to see her....thats going to kill my husband and I horribly. And before anyone asks, no- we have no family that will help us , except my hubbys sister who will only take us MAYBE once a week if we are really lucky. Do you think there is any possibility that due to our situation the hospital would allow us to stay?? I thought that because I am going to try to breastfeed that maybe they will let us stay because of that. But i doubt it from all ive heard. What do you think? what were your experiences?? Also, if she is born at 34/35/36 weeks, how long do babies usually have to stay in the hospital?? and what are their survival rates?? thank you for your answers.

Is a weight gain of 15 lbs normal at 20 weeks pregnant (with one baby)? This is my first baby, so I don't have anything to compare to. I know books say if your BMI is normal (which mine was) then you should gain 25-35 lbs your whole pregnancy. So have I gained too much by this point, or am I ok?

I also have upper abdominal pain and am struggling to breath normally. Has anyone else had this? Can you provide me with some information as to what it could be, am I in labour or not? i missed a couple of birth control pills this month, so i took a plan b pill. now 5 days after that i got my period. This would be the 18th day of my cycle. Last month my cycle was really long like 45 days and it is normally around 35 days i am not very regular at all. The chance of me being pregnant i pretty slim my husband was wearing a condom and we took the pill like 12 hours later. I have cramps and all the normal period stuff. any reason that this could happen. I have a appointment to get birth control this week also.

I am 35 weeks pregnant and I'm deathly terrified of labor. Before I got pregnant I always told my parents I was never having kids because I didn't want to go through labor. I was there when my sister had 2 of her kids, one was on meds and one was natural. Her natural birth scared me the most. The more I read in my books about exactly what happens in labor the more freaked out I get. I'm not so much worried about the pain, because I'm not against drugs and will probably use them. I can't say for sure what it is that scares me so bad, but I would rather stay pregnant than give birth. It's probably a combination of everything around labor. How bad is it the weeks following? After being stretched like that will I really ever shrink back to normal? Anybody have good advice?

Ok, so i am supposed to be 27 weeks and 5 days pregnant, but when i went in for my doctors appointment today i was measuring at 31 weeks. I have had two ultra sounds, one at 8 weeks, and one at 20 weeks, and both went with the same due date. But, when i was only 25 weeks, i was having contractions and had to go to the hospital to stop them with a shot and a pill. Also, i recently started gaining weight very fast! Not anywhere but the stomach though. Before i got pregnant i only weighed 115, and now i have gained 35 lbs, 20 of it within the last month and a half. I have been tested for gestational diabetes and i dont have it. Also my only weight is in my stomach, everywhere else im still the same size except for my boobs. Now, the doctor wants me to get an ultra sound because i am measuring out to be 31 weeks. Does anyone think i could be having my baby earlier than expected. Also i have a family history of having preemies. My dad was born at 33 weeks, and I was born at 34. Even my sister was born at 35 weeks. So what do you think my chances are for having my baby early? And when should i expect her? Oh and also, my last period was in early May.

Okay. So let me start with background. I was on the generic form of the b/c pill NOR-QD (mini pill) from 6 weeks after my daughter's birth (roughly mid-July 2004) until this past August. I went off the pill for several reasons. One -- I was forgetting to take pills or taking them late and was starting to get breakthru bleeding/periods when for the previous years I'd had NO period. Two -- I was going to be dropped from my father's insurance due to graduating college. Three -- I'm getting married in August of this year and wanted to have a regular period back by that time as my fiance and I are planning to TTC fairly soon afterward. I got my first period after going off the pill on August 25th. My cycles have been as follows: 36 days 34 days 31 days Today is day 35 and I have yet to get my period, although I have felt some slight cramping most of the week this week. I realize it can take 6+ months to become regular, but going on my last cycle, I'm about 4 days late for my period at this point. My fiance and I do have unprotected sex; however, he has never finished inside of me. I know this is not foolproof. I took a HPT Saturday and it came back negative. So my question is this: with the information about when I went off b/c, the pattern of my cycles, and information about my sexual activity -- should I continue to be concerned about a possible pregancy? Or has my cycle just not regulated itself yet? How "irregular" should I expect my periods to be? Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer.

i have suffered with s.p.d since 24 weeks pregnant im now 35 and it has been so bad that i cant walk i thought that was it but now the pain is just soooo unbearable i just want the baby out i cant handle this anymore i have been told to go in 1 weeks early to get an induced date but i just cant go on any longer i cant believe i actually have to deliver a baby with this pain i am so anxious and panicky and scared i can hear my bones now grinding and my hips clicking as i walk i cant get comfy anywhere i go shopping and have to come home because i cant stand the pain i also have a 3 yr old boy who i just cant do anything with because i cant move i hate him seeing me on crutches i just wish i could run around after him and go for walks does anyone else have there pain this severe or anything like this please help iv seen doctors and midwifes and apparently (its just pregnancy it happens alot to alot of women but i don't know anyone who has had it this bad at all !! please give me some advice on how to deal with it and i just cry all the time !! please i just want my life back to normal thanx for all your answers they are a great help i know it seems selfish but to know that other people have had the same pain makes me feel better because i know its normal and dont feels as panicked and as for delivering on my hands and knees i cant lean on my left leg because it sends the pain to the pubic area and my hip. but thanx anyway.

my doctor keeps telling me im 32 weeks pregnant, only problem is ive been 32 weeks for about three weeks now. I have a due date of feb 17 so that would make me 34 wekks almost 35 right? Is my doc slipping on his records or am i mistaken?

Hi, my pre pregnancy weight was 105 pounds, i am over 39 weeks pregnant now (due saturday) anyways at my most recent appointment my weight had dropped one pound, is that normal? I weighed 139 and i was 140, so i did gain 35 pounds (well.. 34 now) and that seems like a lot to me, so does that make that lost pound okay? my last appointment was already a week ago, i go in tomorrow, but my scale at home says my weight is still 139, is that bad? I havent lost any more but still nothing gaining either.. I thought you gained the most in the last month?

hey so last month my cycle was 35 days long, the month before that it was 39 days and the month before that was 39 days.. ive been having on and off slight cramping for the past week. but no other symptoms, i have a cold right now, and last night a sore throat. i usually get bloated and my breasts swell a little before my period but i have no swelling and no symptoms really except slight cramping here and there that doesnt last long. If i am pregnant id be 5 weeks or so bc my last period was nov 26th.. Do u think im preggers?? What kind of symptoms did YOU have right around the time you found out?? It nearly fills the whole vision of they eye, but only in that 'C' shape. When I close my eye, I can still see the shape of a 'C', but it kind of looks like a moving rainbow. Does that make sense? Anyway, this has come and gone several times since last week. It's very bothersome and today has left me with a headache. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

this morning i woke up with alot of pressure in vagina and alot of pelvic pain, i went to doc. on sat. and im not dialated but was having contractions, this is my fifth baby and ive never went into labor on own, can anyone tell me if this is signs of labor or just normal? i woke up this morning with alot of pressure and pain in vagina and pelvic area, this is my fifth baby but have never went into labor on my own or felt this, ive had diarehha for two days now but other than that have felt fine, i went to doctor on sat. and was having contractions but not dialated at all, could this be labor coming? i really dont notice the contractions today because of my stomach hurting and all the pain in vagina and pelvic, dont you have to lose the mucas plug or have your water break before you have your baby?

I'll be 35 weeks pregnant tomorrow and yesterday and today I've had alot of dizzy/lightheaded spells that come on all of the sudden and then go away. Each time I'm not doing anything physical, just sitting. Any ideas what that could be?

I just had a baby and am starting to diet to lose weight. I lost 55 pounds before I got pregnant by just watching my calories and carbs and exercising. Well, with the baby it's going to be a little bit more difficult to get out and exercise since it's winter time. My gym has free daycare but the baby has to be at least 6 months old and mine is only 6 weeks old. So, for now I'm going to concentrate on dieting alone and figure out the exercise later. Does anyone know any good websites to go to that will tell me how many calories and carbs I need in a day to lose my desired weight (which is about 35 pounds)? I've tried googling it and haven't found what I'm looking for. Also, if anyone has any tips or advice I'd appreciate them!

I was on the pill over a year ago for about a month and then I stopped taking them because they made me uncomfortable (I think it was Yaz) and I have always had irregular periods since I started even having periods in the first place. It took about 6 months after quitting the pill before I started having a period in consecutive months, but that only lasted for about 3 months... Now I haven't had my period for almost 4 months, just occasional spotting for a day or two, and in the last three weeks I have been spotting on and off. I think if I were pregnant I'd know by now since I'd have to be entering my second trimester, and I haven't been gaining or losing weight. The spotting is so light that I only see it when I wipe on the tissue, and I am still having PMS symptoms. I have been under a lot of stress in this time frame (i.e. getting two jobs, losing one, worrying about school, etc.) and I was told that may be a cause. It'll be a little while before I can see a doctor again, and right now I'm getting kind of scared because I heard of women that die from not having a period. Nothing else besides my seasonal respiratory infections and whatnot have gone wrong with me, so what could be going on??? (btw I am pretty heavy, my BMI is like 35 or something so maybe that would contribute as well since I've never been this heavy before?)

It's pretty bad to where i have shut my phone off since i don't want to talk to anyone at all and have to pretend like im fine when im not. I don't even want to eat. And i can't even seem to pin point the exact reason im depressed. I talked to my hubby about a few of the things bothering me last night and he of course turned it onto himself saying i don't want to be with him and he's a terrible husband and blah blah blah and that i don't want the baby which neither is true and just took everything out of context and then proceeded to tell me to pretty much get over it because i wanted this baby as if i got myself pregnant. And he hasn't spoken to me pretty much all day because i guess me being depressed offended him in some way so he is no help. I don't really want to talk to the doctor because i don't want meds while im pregnant and i dont know what else he could say or do for me. So im just wondering i guess if anyone else was badly depressed late in pregnancy and if it is going to make me more likely to have post partum depression after the baby is born?? thanks in advance for answering.

do contractions necessarily have to hurt? My tummy keeps tightening up and I feel pressure when it does but it doesn't tighten up EVERYWHERE just mainly around my bellybutton and and above it and it will last for 15-30 seconds....sometimes (not always) It will be followed by a sharp pain down my ..yoohoo... or even period like cramps...am I having a contraction? I am 35 1/2 weeks pregnant. ive been having them off and on for the past 2 days sometimes at 20 minutes apart from each other...it doesnt last all day and I dont FEEL like im going to have a baby anytime soon...or I hope not because I am not full term yet!

The baby was measured at 30 weeks and weighed 5lbs then measured again at 33 weeks and weighed 7lbs and I am wondering if with him being so big if he can throw me into labor early. which i have c sections so it doesn't matter about size. This is my 4th pregnancy and all the other kids they measured with ultrasound they were right on about. my last kid weighed 3lbs. 3ozs at 30 weeks and this baby weighs almost 2lbs more at that stage and the last baby weighed 8lbs 13ozs at 39 weeks. The docs are afraid he will throw me into early labor which is why i am hoping to make it to at least 37 weeks but if it happens by 36 weeks they won't stop me from having him only if i go into labor before 36 weeks.
