Open Question: Currently 35 weeks pregnant getting induced at 37 weeks pregnant.?
(Sun, 14 Mar 2010 20:59:47 GMT)
I'm currently 35 weeks pregnant & i was at my doctors appt on March 8th & she told me i was getting induced at 37weeks (due to health issues). So i asked her will my baby be ok, will his lungs be developed. She said yes because 37weeks is counted at full-term, she also said i wont be needing an amnio test to check the baby's lungs.
My question is:
Will my baby be ok if i give birth at 37weeks, and would he need 2 stay in the hospital for several days?
Thank you for all your answers :-)
also my baby is healthy. At 32 weeks pregnant his weight was 5lbs and 2 oz.

Open Question: How fast can I dilate from a 3cm with my back to back pregnancy?
(Sun, 14 Mar 2010 01:56:58 GMT)
I had my daughter April 28th 2009 and than got pregnant two months later with my son and am due April 1st 2010. So I have had a back to back pregnancy, I dont know if that has anything to do with my current pregnancy. But I have been told having a back to back can increase your chances of having the baby sooner and faster.
I went in to my doctors appt at 36 weeks and was dilated at 1cm 30 % effacement, and at my 37 week appt I was told I am a Good 3cm dialated 90% effacement. I was told he is pretty low and in position to go. I have lost my mucus plug.
I experiance times when my tummy feels tight (cant tell if its tight because of contractions or because the baby has moved) I do have constant back pain and I have experianced some preasure in my pelvic and sometimes I feel preasure on my vagina. Sometimes feels like someone has a pencil inside of me and keeps poking me.
Anyways I was wondering if anyone had any knowledge of a back to back pregnancy. My doctor says that I probably would not make it to week 39. So I am wondering if anyone has any simular stories. And if anyone knew good home remedies to help this process go faster. I am exhausted.
\
That is also something I have noticed the past two days I just want to sleep all the time. It is impossible not to have a nap. I do not know if its because I am ready for my son or because I have a 10 month old here at the house that wares me out.

Open Question: Menstrual like period cramps?
(Sun, 14 Mar 2010 00:15:10 GMT)
I am now a little over 37 weeks pregnant and have been experiencing (I think lol) braxton hicks contractions. They do not hurt unless I try to turn or something, they do however feel very tight and uncomfortable.
Anyways, i have not lost my mucus plug but have been feeling like I am about to start my period. I have been getting those annoying cramps but they are not consistent in any way. I get them randomly throughout the day. I have been getting them for about a week now and i was just wondering what they could be?

Open Question: 37 weeks pregnant and cramping?
(Sat, 13 Mar 2010 22:03:05 GMT)
This is my first pregnancy so I don't really know what to feel and what not to feel. Whenever something hurts on my body I am good at just dealing with it and moving on. However I am 37 weeks pregnant and I was shopping quite a bit and after wards when I sat down my stomach felt as if it was tightening up and it felt like awful cramps! ( is this normal? ) Me and my doctor are unfortunately not close and I'm having a hard time trying to find prenatal classes so I am confused with whats going on with me. Is it normal to be sensitive on my belly as well? when people want to poke my belly It's sensitive and It sorta hurts. Anyways any good Information you ladies can tell me about? I would love to know some good information on being 37 weeks.
xo Thank you

Open Question: 37 weeks pregnant and not even big?
(Fri, 12 Mar 2010 23:06:44 GMT)
I am 37 weeks pregnant and I can still roll from side to side on the bed without having to lean up. I get out of bed quickly when I need to and I don't feel big at all! everybody is saying I'm not even that big. Am I going to have a little tiny baby or something? my belly button isn't even sticking out and my sisters belly button stuck out by now and all she had was a 7 pound baby. I am worried now, does this mean I'm going to have a little tiny baby? Why do I look so small compared to others? I haven't gained weight anywhere on my body besides my breasts' and belly. I thought I was going to have swelling on the ankles and all that - but if anything I've lost weight on my legs and arms. I am worried because it's a big deal in my family to have a healthy big baby (I don't know why) it seems like everybody likes to brag about how big their baby was and how healthy she/or he was. Everybody looks at me like "You can't be 37 weeks pregnant" :( All I have is a few dot stretch marks, I don't have full lines or anything just little dots on my sides. I am 5'5 and I gained about 20+ pounds so now I am 170 pounds.
Ah please give me some good imformation, this is my first pregnancy and I don't have my parents or anybody really to talk to about this kind of stuff.

Open Question: 37 weeks pregnant and have a few questions..?
(Fri, 12 Mar 2010 21:35:13 GMT)
I'm 37 weeks pregnant this week with my first child, and starting Monday I felt like I was getting sick (like pre-flu where your whole body hurts, but I haven't actually gotten sick), and my whole abdomen is sore (like I've been working out or just ran a few miles) and I'm extremely tired.
I was just wondering if this is normal during the last few weeks of pregnancy or if its something to be concerned about.

Open Question: In labor? (warning, contains tmi!)?
(Fri, 12 Mar 2010 18:58:02 GMT)
I'm 37 weeks 3 days pregnant, called my dr an hour ago and she still hasn't called back. Anyway, last night I had constant back pain that lingered but would get stronger and fade every half hour but never got closer together. I'm still experiencing it. Also I have been constipated my entire pregnancy and now all of a sudden I have diarrhea. The last few days I've been losing chunks of my mucus plug as well. Also, in one week I went from 1 cm dilated 25% effaced to 80% effaced (still 1 cm) but might be more now after last night.
What do you think? And if you want to share your experiences that would be great! Thank you in advance for your input :)

Open Question: Can I sue the doctors?
(Fri, 12 Mar 2010 05:02:11 GMT)
Okay, I had 2 premature births at 23 weeks. The first one I had contractions and doctor said it was the ligament and didn't want me to go to the ER, few hours later I was at the ER with lots of contractions and almost giving birth. They transfered me to another hospital and they did lots of exams, ultrasound cervix check and etc. The contractions stopped after a day. I stayed there for 2 weeks. They couldn't find what was wrong with me, they told me sometimes it can be incompetent cervix but nothing showed that I had that so they sent me home to bed rest. 2 days after I left the hospital I started gushing a lot of blood and had to give birth (placenta came out of the uterus). So in the second pregnancy I switched doctors because I was upset with the first one. So the second one told me that my pregnancy was a high risk. due to my first pregnancy and since they didn't find what went wrong all he could give me was progesterone( hormonal pills) to prevent early labor and also didn't consider me having incompetent cervix. at 20 weeks my water broke. Was sent home and 2 weeks later I started bleeding little by little until I reached 23 and 3 days. Gave premature birth again. So my third pregnancy I took action. I called a doctor from Brazil to have another doctors opinion and he said that due to my history I might have incompetent cervix. The doctor said he had to see me before 13 weeks to make sure it was that, so he could prevent premature labor again. I gave another chance to another U.S doctor went to a high risk specialist and told her what happened. She told me there was no chance that I could have incompetent cervix because my cervix was always closed during pregnancy and she wanted to do the exact same treatment as my second pregnancy, just give me progesterone and wait for the best, she said that my case was mysterious and that Brazil is not the U.S and not to consider other country's doctors opinion if they haven't even seen me . I got very upset and took the first plane to brazil. When I got here he did a pap smear and just by looking at my cervix he saw that I had incompetent cervix. He said when women have PPROM or a bleeding (which is placenta abrumption) in the middle of pregnancy you have Incompetent Cervix. which you need to do a cerclage in the cervix between 13-14 weeks. to prevent pressure in the uterus and cervix so your water doesn't break and you don't bleed. My doctor was very upset due to the fact that those 2 pregnancies could have been fine and not the lost of 2 daughters. He said it was obvious to see what was wrong. right now I am 37 weeks pregnant I will be taking my cerclage soon. my pregnancy is going great. Would I be able to sue the doctor's for negligence or malpractice?

Resolved Question: Husband not as excited about pregnancy#2?
(Fri, 12 Mar 2010 02:59:09 GMT)
Backround: I am a SAHM to a 14mo old girl and 37 weeks pregnant. This 2nd pregnancy was a surprise but oh well. I feel like he paid way more attention to me when I was preg the first time. He used to offer to do the dishes so I could rest. He would make sure I wasnt lifting too much always telling me to be careful because I assumed he cared. Now I will be trying to get off the couch he sees me struggling but doesnt offer to help. Of course eventually I will be able to get up. LOL.. But it hurts that he doesnt offer to give me a hand. I cook him dinner every single night--most nights I am at the stove sittiing on a stool because my feet are so swollen. I just wish one night he would offer to make dinner just to show me that he cared. I actually like to cook thats not what that is about I just wish he would think of me. I want him to want to do something nice for me without me asking. Such as me asking and asking and asking him to do the dishes or get the baby ready for bed. It would just show me that he cared and he knows that my body is tired from the pregnancy and that he understands. But instead all I hear is about how he wont be able to do his hobbies when the new baby is born--its like he is dreading it. I cant wait to meet my 2nd daughter and I know in time he will love the new one like he loves our first but it still hurts. The only time he comes upstairs to hang out in bed is if we have sex. He used to want to feel my belly move or see it move when I was pregnant with #1. If I say hey look and he sees belly moving--he goes yea thats cool. He has only felt this baby kick a hand ful of times-- He never offers to want to feel the baby kicking unless I kinda make him by placing his hand there. But when I was preg with #1 he would always put his hand there to try and see if he could feel the baby kicking. It seems to me he is not giving this pregnancy as much consideration. Im so stressed about this--its makes me feel like he is not happy about this new child about to be born. I am due in 19 days. Ugh

Open Question: 36 weeks...nesting last 2 days...just don't feel right..any thoughts?
(Fri, 12 Mar 2010 02:40:53 GMT)
I am 36 weeks pregnant with my 3rd baby. I had my first at 40 weeks 5 days and my second at 37 weeks 6 days.
I can't remember how I felt with either of my babies at this point but I would just like YOUR experiences. I have been nesting BAD (lol) for the last 2 days and I feel like I am getting sick. I just don't feel right...almost fuzzy and blah (like I drank WAAAAAAAAAAAY to much caffiene or something) my tummy also hurts to touch in some spots. I really just think I am stretched to my limit and my skin is sore. (If that makes sense) I have no real desire to eat either....not in the last couple of days (I DO EAT THOUGH) I just am NOT hungry. But I think it's the "fuzzy" not quite right feeling that is bothering me the most. I don't like how I feel at all.
How was everyone feeling about this time or before they went into labor? Did you experience this?THANKS! :)
I AM DUE APRIL 9th TOO!!!! :) (so technically I am 35 weeks 6 days...lol) :) I swear I have organized this entire house...sterilized everything in site, washed every piece of laundry in the house, put together the bassinett....ETC!!! I can't stop! LOL!

Open Question: When is this baby coming!?
(Thu, 11 Mar 2010 22:53:36 GMT)
I am 37 weeks pregnant according to my LMP, but I am measuring 40 weeks. The baby dropped 4 days ago and is KILLING my hips. I lost my mucus plug 2 nights ago, and it wasnt bloody. I have been leaking discharge ever since. I am almost completely effaced and I am 3 cm dilated. The baby is in the head down anterior position, which according to my doctor is the best position for birth. My doctor is sending me for an ultrasound on Monday to see how big the baby is and to check fluid levels. I would REALLY like to have him naturally. Do you think he will continue to progress and come out on his own?

Open Question: Can I ask to be induced?
(Thu, 11 Mar 2010 21:46:45 GMT)
I am 37 weeks 6 days pregnant with my third child. My other two were huge babies, my biggest at 9lbs. 8oz. 24.5inches long. I am so tired of being pregnant and I keep feeling like I am going to start my period. I have tested positive for the Group B Strep test and that kind of makes me nervous. If I went to the hospital and explained to them my concerns would they consider inducing me? I go to the health department for my prenatal care and never really get to talk to my doctor seriously about my concerns. However I am registered at the hospital right now. I just want to be induced! How can i make this happen?

Open Question: how much longer do you think its going to be?!?!?!?!?!?
(Thu, 11 Mar 2010 21:18:53 GMT)

Resolved Question: Baby's head is so low?
(Thu, 11 Mar 2010 14:07:54 GMT)
I am now 36 weeks and 3 days pregnant and at my 36 week appointment the doctor said my baby's head is so low he's never felt anything that low. I would say I dropped around 34 weeks and have been getting lower and lower since. I am now waddling when I walk, I can't cross my legs anymore, can barely put on my own shoes, and feel pressure and pain to walk. I have been having irregular contractions all day yesterday and last night but nothing regular and the contractions are gone now. Could this be any sign that labor may be soon? I know you can never know for real but if you experienced this, how long after did you labor?
Also I had my son at 37 weeks because my water had broke, I dropped with him but don't remember all the pressure and waddling and other things I am experiencing this time.

Open Question: 37.5 weeks pregnant with mild period-like cramps?
(Thu, 11 Mar 2010 09:43:08 GMT)
Okay I was having horrible upper back pain so I went into the emergency room. Earlier today I saw my docotr and was told to go get tested for preeclampsia. Although I have no hbp. So anyway. At the e.r they did a cervical check and she said I was only opened enough for the tip of her finger. Ever since then I've been having mild like period cramps. Is this due to the cervix check or could it have triggerd early labor.
Also pain has radiated to lower back. It wil act up for a while then stop for a few minutes and so on

Voting Question: 37 weeks pregnant and i have.....(please no rude remarks)?
(Thu, 11 Mar 2010 03:36:49 GMT)
im 37 weeks pregnant(38 on sunday) and in October 2008 I was told that i have HPV. but when i found out i was 20 years old and the doctor told me that they wouldnt be able to do some type of "test" that consists of them taking a piece of my cervix and then test it until i turned 21. well once i turned 21 i found out that i was pregnant and it really hasnt seemed to cross my mind until now, but i know that HPV is pretty much an std, and now im scared that when i give birth will it be possible to pass HPV on to my baby? i have a doctor appt on tuesday so i plan on asking then, but i want to be able to calm my nerves for the time being. so... HPV, can i pass it on to my baby from vaginal birth??

(Thu, 11 Mar 2010 01:53:14 GMT)
im 37 and a half weeks pregnant. i walked to my boyfriends house about 7 blocks away about 2 and a half hours ago. while i was there we tried to have sex but this only lasted about 10 minutes because it was causing me a lot of pain. i after preceded to get emotional and cried a little bit (don't know if this would bring on contractions paired with the sex and walking). I left his house to walk home and after walking about 15 steps i couldn't walk anymore with bad pain in my lower left back and in my very upper left thigh. i'm getting small pains in my stomach about every 6 minutes along with severe back pain at the same time. is this an early stage of labor or just braxton hicks?

Open Question: is there any way to kinda talk your doctor into inducing or stretching your cervix or w/e to help start labor?
(Wed, 10 Mar 2010 02:02:00 GMT)
i'm 37 weeks pregnant, which means technically i'm full term, and my doctor says everything looks great and that now we're just "playing the waiting game" until we can jump up and down saying happy birthday. she's about 6 lbs 9 oz now so she's perfectly healthy and head down.

Voting Question: 37 weeks and going crazy?
(Wed, 10 Mar 2010 00:48:03 GMT)
I'm 37 weeks with my first baby, 25 years old and married for about 2 years now. It's been a tough pregnancy-severe morning sickness in the beginning, issues with pre-hypertension, and problems with very rude doctors (finally found a good one). I have a whole new respect for pregnant women; this is harder than I ever imagined. I have been so emotional in the past few weeks. I probably cry every other day at the least, and over very stupid things. Some moments I'm excited for the baby to come, and other moments I am terrified and feeling in over my head. It's been rough because my mom is still in denial about becoming a grandmother, and this is something I would normally confide in her about, yet I just feel awkward anymore.
Has anyone else gone through this? I just need some advice on how to get through all of these crazy emotions...

Voting Question: Can DCF take my baby?
(Tue, 09 Mar 2010 22:33:28 GMT)
I am currently 37 weeks pregnant and scared about the whole DCF/CPS situation and wondering if anyone could help me with my particular situation.
When I was 17 I got my kids taken from me because I was a stupid teen. They are being raised by my mother who has permanent guardianship of them and both the cases are closed.
I am a responsible adult now with a fiance who is also responsible and we are financially secure to be able to provide the baby with a good home. Can they still take my baby from me????

Voting Question: Why is my period always so late?
(Tue, 09 Mar 2010 06:49:14 GMT)
I've noticed that if I'm supposed to get my period around exam time, I'll skip it completely or it'll delay a few weeks. I am sexually active, and I had sex at the end of my last period. A condom was used but the person didn't "finish" inside me (if you know what I mean..) Actual intercourse only occurred for a little while and then the end result didn't happen until much later during other activities. Anyway, I recently went through a round of midterm exams -- 4 exams in 5 days. I slept and ate very little and experienced some degree of stress. My period is usually longer than 3-5 days. It's more like 7-8, so I never have a 28-day cycle. It's been 37 days since the END of my last period, and I'm just now going through the symptoms of PMS. My PMS is usually very routine and I'm seeing all the normal signs of it including increased clear discharge, acne on my back, chest, and face, bloating, diarrhea and fatigue. I really DON'T think I'm pregnant so that's not my reason for posting. What I am concerned about is why does my period seem to be so irregular when I've had it for 7 years?

Voting Question: Sixth nerve palsy & pregnant?
(Tue, 09 Mar 2010 01:47:17 GMT)
I started having double vision about 2 weeks ago. My OB immediately hospitalized me because my blood pressure was sky high & he feared pre-eclampsia. Labs came back normal & he referred me to an opthomalogist who diagnosed sixth nerve palsy. I have had bloodwork, an MRI & they have ruled out diabetes. All is normal. I am now working with a Maternal fetal physician who called me her "project" & I am seeing a neurologist tommorrow. I am seeing 4 doctors now & not one knows when or if my vision will come back or if the 2 issues are even related. They have me on blood pressure meds & are monitoring me twice a week. I am 32 weeks & MFP says she probably won't let me go past 37.
I was just wondering if anyone has heard of this & when the vision problem resolved. Most think when my BP is under control it will come back but no one has that much experience with it.
Also, unfortunately they won't release me to go back to work & I don't have disability through them. Are there any other financial compensation options anyone is aware of?
