Resolved Question: Why has it taken us so long to realize that (childhood) obesity is causing early puberty and the related?
(Mon, 30 Aug 2010 20:25:23 GMT)
Spiritually asking, why has it taken us so long to realize that (childhood) obesity is causing early puberty and the related social problems of early teen sex and pregnancy? We have known about their direct relationship since the 1970s (almost 40 years ago).
What are we doing to combat these habbits in our own lives and the world?
We have known since the 1970's (published in medical journals and 1980s in popular books) that high starch and high caloric (including sugars, fats, and empty calor

Voting Question: Broken up and 6 months pregnant, would writing a journal, counseling or anything else help?
(Tue, 10 Aug 2010 19:45:06 GMT)
My babies father left me a few weeks ago because we were both stressed out and he didn't like me being upset all the time. I'm not sure if he understands that I'm super emotional or just won't accept it. A lot of things have happened from when we first met 3 years ago, I was assaulted by a family member, kicked out, a months rent was stolen and I had to move, then a horrible 2 month relationship that hurt my baby's father. Despite what I have gone through I realized that I've taken out my ange

Resolved Question: Lifting heavy things during pregnancy?
(Tue, 20 Jul 2010 01:55:40 GMT)
I am 9 weeks pregnant. My doctor told me that the belief of "lifting heavy things can cause a miscarriage" was a myth. He said that "you can't lift your baby out of you". However, I also know that different doctors have different philosophies and often give different advice. So I was wondering if anyone had heard something similar or the complete opposite from their own doctor? I only ask because as a teacher I am in the process of moving my classroom and we will soon be moving to a new h

Resolved Question: look what i found out about watermelon during pregnancy :]?

im just sitting here eating a bowl of watermelon and due to my curiosity i decided to look online about it and found this little juicy information :]
If you're pregnant, the benefits are even more delicious. Watermelon eases heartburn and reduces swelling; its high water content (92 percent) and fruit sugars alleviate morning sickness and dehydration; and the minerals it contains can help prevent third-trimester muscle cramps. Ounce for ounce, watermelon is richer than tomatoes in lycopene, a

How many people died during the Crusades? How may died during the Christianity motivated Holocaust? That the apostle Paul defended slavery and criticized those who stood against it? The misogyny of the Bible?

Resolved Question: Unexplained weight gain?

After I had my oldest baby my body completely went nuts. I am 5'6 and was 149lbs when I got pregnant with my oldest. I delivered him at 171 (only 22lbs of pregnancy weight) and was 135lbs at my 6 week appointment. Then, in just under a month, I gained almost 100lbs and went up to 224lbs. The doctors said that it was an allergic reaction to depo and that it would go away, but it didn't. I went on a diet, and did 2 hours of pilates a day and I didn't drop a single pound. Resolved Question: would you change your parenting methods if a series of well-designed scientific studies showed it was harmful?

There's quite a bit of parenting research out there with very large sample sizes, that show clear results. While there is some amount of conflict in the literature in general (i.e., you can always find somebody refuting it - although usually not in a high-ranking journal), some messages come through loud and clear. For example, drinking during pregnancy causes birth defects, or spanking causes aggressive behavior in children, or vaccines don't cause autism. I often hear parents saying, "Well,

This article and study demonstrates that moderate drinking of wine may actually increase conception rates...which I find interesting. I do not endorse drinking at all when pregnant or even when TTC. However, I do notice that if, in the beginning stages of ovulation, I allow myself a glass of wine to loosen things up, I am not as up tight or obsessive about getting pregnant. Resolved Question: Rude doctor about weight gain?
(Thu, 01 Apr 2010 20:31:12 GMT)
My obstetrician is very blunt and kind of rude about how much weight I have been gaining. She's a good doctor, but she could be a little nicer. I don't eat a lot of junk food, I stick by my pregnancy food pyramid and make sure to eat only when I'm hungry. I exercise everyday and I still managed to gain over 10 pounds last month. I asked her what I could do differently and everything she suggested I already do. I have always been the type to gain weight very easily, so this is very frustrating.

Throughout the years, many people have asked me what it’s like, living so long. Usually, I smile humbly and repeat, “I suppose you could say it’s like living in slow motion.” Disappointed, they often mumble a blessing and walk off. It’s moments like these that I feel truly alone. No one could possibly understand my life. Everyone I have ever loved, or ever will love, will die hundreds of years before I will so much as feel the pangs of old age.
It came to be called the Leap Year Syndrome. Or,
